Performers, improvisers and insatiable travellers, Trio Talweg regularly perform on the greatest stages in Europe and Asia. Since winning the Diapason d'Or for their recording of Tchaikovsky's Trio, Talweg have established themselves as fervent inheritors of the piano trio tradition. Their performances have been described as “bewitching” and “spellbinding” (Concerto Net).

The acclaimed French Trio Talweg present a compelling programme featuring Britten’s French-influenced Introduction and Allegro, Schumann's most celebrated and intensely romantic Piano Trio No.1 in D minor, Op.63, Irish composer Gerald Barry's uniquely vivacious and rhythmical Triorchic Blues, and finishing with Ravel's exquisite Piano Trio in A minor, M. 67, arguably the most loved of all piano trios.

Trio Talweg's pianist Romain Descharmes makes a welcome return to Ireland, following his success as 1st prizewinner of the 2006 AXA Dublin International Piano Competition.

Performers, improvisers and insatiable travellers, Romain Descharmes, Sébastien Surel and Eric-Maria Couturier are welcomed by the greatest stages in Europe and Asia.

"Bewitching phrasing, a spellbinding fusion of timbres" (Concerto Net), "dazzling and refined" (Diapason) "a balance on the edge, between control and abandonment" (Classica), the Talweg are "3 assertive presences, three torrents bubbling at the heart of the works, exposing the rough edges and laying bare the emotion" (La nouvelle République). (La nouvelle République)

A mature ensemble, since 2004 the trio has forged a broad repertoire that embraces the history of music for piano trio and extends to the music of today.

Since winning the Diapason d'Or for their recording of Tchaikovsky's trio, Talweg have established themselves as fervent inheritors of the piano trio tradition.

Each of their encounters is an opportunity to confront their personal experiences, giving rise to a common language, a play of colours and imagination, a dramatic and lyrical force in the monuments of the repertoire.

With their culture of rhythm and improvisation, they open up new fields of exploration. Their collaborations with artists from the jazz, tango, rock and electro worlds (Tomás Gubitsch, Vincent Segal, David Linx, Jeff Mills...) make them a singular and sought-after group.

The Talweg trio has recorded trios by Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich, the complete Brahms trios and those by Schubert, Ravel and Turina, as well as contemporary works, and has been awarded the highest distinctions by the international press.
